HURRICANE INFORMATION

IN THE EVENT OF

A TROPICAL STORM OR HURRICANE

Mink & Mink, Inc. is responsible for keeping tenants and owners of all managed properties advised of  approaching tropical storms and/or hurricanes and the steps we will take to ensure the safety and security of the buildings.

As an experienced, innovative real estate professional group, we are dedicated to our clients to provide the most comprehensive real estate solutions available.  Therefore, there are vital issues with regard to preparations, that need to be addressed on behalf of the tenants/owners of managed properties:

**ADVISORY**

  • A Notice will be distributed via fax or email informing your office that your building will be closed and the anticipated date your building will be re-opened

  • A Building Closing Notice will be posted throughout your building to inform tenants, owners, and clients of the closing

  Hurricane Watch

This is the first alert when a hurricane poses a possible, but as of yet uncertain threat to a coastal area.  Small craft advisories are issued as part of a hurricane watch advisory.

Hurricane Warning

Notice that within 24 hours or less, a specified coastal area may be subject to sustained winds of 74 mph or higher and/or dangerously high water and exceptionally high waves, even though expected winds may be less than hurricane force.

ANTICIPATED CLOSING

OF BUILDINGS

As Management prepares to close buildings, we will be securing the elevators to a higher level, so as not to be damaged by water, shutting off all major equipment such as air conditioning, electricity, life safety, and locking front doors.  Please be sure to inform your colleagues, staff and clients.

For your office, you may wish

to consider the following before

departing the building:

  • Turn off and unplug all machines and appliances

  • Possibly move furniture and equipment away from windows

  • Cover certain files with plastic

  • Set target date for staff to return to office

  • New batteries in beepers, mobile phones, etc.

  • Remove or copy certain important critical data that may contain emergency phone numbers, insurance certificates, accounting, financial statements, tape back ups

  • Other suggestions – Close blinds, if any, in unprotected windows (helps to deflect flying debris).  Close all office interior doors.
